Chris Parker starts training at the Club for IronMan 70.3 2012

Local Triathlete Chris Parker will be competing in this years Ironman 70.0 and would welcome your support in helping to raise money for the Shooting Star CHASE Children’s Hospice.
Ironman 70.3 (UK) takes place on June 17th, Wimbleball Lake, Somerset. This is also known as the half Ironman, but is still a massive challenge with a 1.2mile swim, 56 mile ride and 13.5 mile run. Although he has competed in several triathlons in 2011, this will be a big step up in distance, and from Jan 2012 he will be using the Club’s facilities (Pool, Gym, Track etc) to build his training programme and put in the hard hours required to compete in such an event.
A word from Chris.
“One of the big reasons for doing the Ironman was the personal challenge, but more importantly I have been looking for great event to inspire people to sponsor me so I can raise money for Shooting Star CHASE Children’s Hospice, based in Guildford, a charity which I’m sure many members already know. This charity cares for local families with a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition. They support families living in West London, Surrey and West Sussex, and don’t get any support from the government. Therefore, every penny I raise will go to this cause and I would like ask members of the club to help me raise £1000 (Or more) in donations”.
